Mangrove Conservation & Eco-Tourism Park
Puerto Galera’s new marine protected area (MPA) and mangrove conservation site was launched on August 26, 2015. The MPA and mangrove conservation site, measuring 22 hectares, is composed largely of a mangrove forest coupled with reefs and seagrass. The new MPA is the municipality’s second MPA.
The mangrove conservation site was developed into a revenue-generating eco-tourism destination by the provincial government, embassy of Canada and MFI, jointly managed by community-based organisations of barangays Tabinay and Dulangan.
